Period Lowboy Restoration

BEFORE
Lowboy before

After
Sometime in the past, this period lowboy ( circa mid 1700's ) had been poorly re-veneered on the top.
Unfortunately, the veneering was done incorrectly and with the wrong types of veneer.
We removed the rest of the veneer off the top ( none of it was original to the piece) and re-veneered using book - matched walnut crotch with a walnut banding.
We painstakingly finished the top in hand rubbed shellac and used several special techniques through the process to "age" the finish and match the unique look  of the lowboy.
