Q: What is the shelf life of your stain?

A: Unopened, we have found our water based stain to be good beyond 3 plus years, but an exact time frame can vary depending on conditions. Once opened, it will depend on the care and resealing of the product. Storage is key. Water Based products contain organic materials and moisture, which are key ingredients for mold growth. To prevent mold, store sealed product in a climatized area, avoiding extreme temperature fluctuations.

Q: I bought WeRefinish stain several years ago, how do I know If It’s still usable?

A: With older product, you are looking at a couple factors to determine if it’s still good. Is there visible mold? If so, discard. If there is no visible mold, does it have a funky smell? If a funky odor exists, discard product. If the product doesn’t have an unpleasant odor, mix well and see if the colorant disperses evenly. If all looks well, and has low odor, the product is good to use.
