DuraShield Pre Catalyzed Wood Lacquer
Breath easier with Water Based Green Technology
DuraShield pre-catalyzed, self-sealing wood lacquer from WeRefinish, with over 30 years of innovation behind it, is extremely tough and durable with great clarity, depth and richness. Extremely low VOC and very environmentally friendly. Makes finishing wood, furniture and cabinetry safe and easy for both DIY and professionals with the ability to spray on their wood finish. No window for recoating, recoat at any time (once dry enough to sand) with smooth results each time. Self-sealing (recommended). For finishing and refinishing all interior furniture, kitchen cabinets, table tops, office furniture, antiques, and paneling. Safe on children’s furniture too. Not recommended for bar tops or restaurant tables. We recommend Durashield be applied by spray, using an HVLP or conventional spray gun.
DuraShield is available in satin or flat sheen, and can be tinted using any of our Versa tinting colorants to make your favorite color pigmented lacquers or toners. It dries faster than our WoodShield Polyurethane and has a warmer, clearer more “natural” wood look than Polyurethane. Since it dries super fast, its a great production finish and popular among professionals because it saves time.
DuraShield dries to touch (goes tack-free) within twenty minutes or less after application, and it’s usually ready to re-coat within one hour. It sands readily between coats, serving quite well as a self-sealing finish without needing a separate first-coat sanding sealer. It flows out beautifully; it’s so forgiving that spraying is nearly foolproof. Once cured, it’s so tough that it is approved by the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturer’s Association, whose standards define the best commercial finishes.

IMPORTANT: Do not use tack cloth between coats. It can cause improper cure, hazing, crazing, lifting or peeling. Use a lint-free cloth, dampened with water only. For same reasons refrain from applying over a slow drying oil based stain. For best results, use our Wiping Wood Stains. Designed to be applied over our NEXTGEN or Designer Series or stains
Important!: Durashield Should be mixed by stirring only, DO NOT SHAKE ! Shaking will cause air bubbles, which will be transferred to the sprayed surface possibly creating tiny bubbles on the surface. If Shaken, allow to sit 24 hours min. before applying.
Application Tips:
DuraShield is VERY user friendly and can be applied by DIY’ers AND professionals who have the ability to spray finish. We don’t recommend brush application because DuraShield dries very fast, making it unsuitable for brush application.
HVLP is recommended. Tip size – 1.4 or 1.5
Air Pressure, Typically 20 to 35 PSI at the cap
Spray it wet, but not heavy, it flashes fast. You want a smooth wet coat, but not so thick that it runs. Keep moving as you spray it on. Overlap should be 50% and your gun should be 6 to 8 inches from the surface.
Always strain the finish using a fine mesh cone strainer.
Ideal temp to spray is 65 to 75 degrees F with moderate humidity.

I just used this lacquer for the first time, it looks beautiful and was very easy to use. It sprayed on great and dried quickly. I’m even more impressed by how hard it is and durable it seems to be.

I have been very impressed with DuraShield Lacquer, and its become our standard finish for furniture in our cabinet shop. We are super impressed with how easily it applies and how durable it is, and its great for production finishing because it dries in 20 minutes !!

I love this finish! I’m not a beginner at furniture refinishing, but I’m definitely no professional. WeRefinish products continue to impress me and make me look like a pro !! I sprayed this wit a $25 sprayer I purchased from Temu and it looks flawless ! Honestly, I can’t get over it. Awesome product !!

I used to finish my furniture projects with Minwax Polycrylic, but I switched over to Durashield Lacquer and it’s just so much more durable, I couldn’t be happier. It’s more expensive than poly, but I feel as though it’s a superior finish and worth it !
