Color Mixing
Always mix enough paint to complete your project with two coats. Its suggestable to write down your formula, so that you can closely repeat the color if necessary.
In a clean non metal container, add a small amount of VERSA COLOR Hybrid Furniture Paint. Slowly add VERSA Tinting Colorants and stir well until thoroughly mixed following the VERSA Colorant directions. Make notations of colorants and amount used. One “stream” of tint equals approx. 2 ml. Once desired color is achieved, add more paint to equal the amount needed for your project. Check coverage to determine if more colorant is required to give adequate coverage. Too little tint will result in poor coverage, requiring multiple coats. Too much tint may result in a softer paint, requiring a top coat to improve durability.
Prep
Previously Painted Surfaces: Thoroughly clean the surface and allow to dry. Remove all dirt, dust, chalk, rust, grease, wax and mildew. Scrape off loose and peeling paint. Dull glossy surfaces by sanding. Bare Wood, Plywood/Composition Board: For best results over heavily stained areas and bleeding woods such as redwood and cedar, use a coat of stain-blocking primer. Metal: Remove rust on galvanized surfaces and prime with a rust-inhibitive metal primer. For drastic color changes or deep, vivid colors, prime with this product or an appropriate tintable primer for your optimal color accuracy and coverage. Clean Mildew from the Surface: Mildew is a fungus that looks like dirt, but won’t wash off. Mildew must be removed before painting or it will grow through any new coat of paint. To remove mildew or suspected mildew, scrub surface before painting with a commercial mildew remover or a solution of 1 part liquid chlorine bleach to 3 parts water. Rinse thoroughly. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Protect skin and eyes by wearing rubber gloves and eye goggles when working with bleach solution.

Refinishers Making Products For Refinishers…..
WeRefinish was founded in 1991, but the journey actually began in 1982, the year our founder began working in the furniture finishing field. Long before the internet was here to help shorten the learning curve, we were learning piece by piece through trial and error. From 1982 to 1987 he worked in a furniture manufacturing plant in the finishing department. From 87 to 90, he apprenticed with two separate furniture repair companies. In 1991, our business was born in his parent’s garage and from 1991 through 1997 we operated an “in home” furniture repair service with many high end furniture stores as our accounts, providing a service that repaired newly delivered furniture that was delivered either damaged or flawed. In 1997, our business model shifted over to private and commercial client refinishing and over the following 25 years we would refinish or restore over 10,000 pieces of furniture for happy clients all over northeastern United States. Our first stain was developed and offered for sale in 2004. Many specialized products were developed through the years for use in our refinishing business, which won numerous awards, but they weren’t made available to the public until more recently in 2023. Today, the refinishing shop is closed after a fire that occurred in 2022, and we now develop and supplying fellow wood finishing enthusiasts with the many water based finishing products we’ve created and invented over our vast 40+ year refinishing career. We’ve remained a small family run business, where you can still actually speak to the owner. We love what we do, we’re very proud of our pedigree, and our goal of supplying the US with the very best innovative wood coloring products. We’ve always done things differently, In part because there wasn’t any “standard” way of doing things before the internet. Now, we’re sharing our knowledge, experience and creative spirit with you and changing the way the world colors wood!!
